Default Gas and temp gauge question

the wife has a 95 GT and the last few weeks the temp and gas gauge has been flipping out it first started the temp gauge would peg out then after a little while it would drop down to reg temp it would do it within a minute of start up then the gas gauge started not working works some times but then i noticed the other day when i drove it that the gas gauge was working tell the temp gauge did its thing as soon as the temp dropped to normal at the same time the gas gauge quit...So question is do you think it is the cluster itself or is there something on it that goes to the gauge that can be replaced?
