Default gears for autos

hey i got a 91 5.0 notch with a C4 trans and i heard 3.73 gears are the shi* but on an auto i would need like 4.10's is that true? And what are the drawbacks of gears that high do i need to stay off the highway?

no in your case a set of 3.55's will be best..why? because in drive(3rd) you at 1 to 1 with engine speed instead of the .63 as in a t-5

but I'm not such how much hwy driving you do

410s are good for an auto but you should fo went with an AOD instead. AOD and C4 have the same gearing except one has OD
