Default Need help on tuning new setup?!?!

Hello everyone this is my first post and i need help hope to find it here.

Ok im working with an 89 lx coupe 4-8 conversion. It has an 88 GT fully rebuilt bottom end and a set of rebuilt GT40P heads, professional products vic jr knock off intake, anderson B-41 cam and supporting springs and retainers(same as the trickflow stage 2),1.6 motorsport roller rockers, full mac long tubes, mac H pipe, mac flow path mufflers and 3.5in mac slash cut tips, proform gm hei dristributor, edelbrock 1406 with edelbrock jet kit,PA c4 trans 2200 stall,8.8 4.10s posi.

The problem im having is intermittent but is annoying and embarassing but from a dead stop if you mash it sometimes it will stall and die.other times it lights the tires up for all 3 gears.timing is set at 14 base,a/f screws are 3 turns out,i put in the performace tune jetting that the 1405 runs since ive learned these carbs are horribly lean for economy out of the box yet the 1405 is worlds ahead performance wise.I also have the accelerator pump set on the very last setting to richen it off idle while these have helped driveability and the overall performance it hasnt completely solved it.

The entire drive train has 235 miles on it so im not trying to get carried away until the rings seat fully and it gets all broke in but id like to be able to get on it if i want to and it not stall. The plugs indicate everythings going as planned and until the jet kit looked a little too lean for my liking but now look alot better after the jet kit and a few half throttle passes down on a back road.

The rest of the rpm range (5,000 is as high as ive had it) is awesome and it pulls like a freight train.Even if ur rolling along at an idle and mash it it doesnt stall or hesitate it gets with the program quickly im stumped any carbed guys here or edelbrock gurus want to lend a hand?

Sorry it was so long just wanted to be as descriptive as possible.

Hmmm... not big on edelbrock carbs, if it was a holley i would take a look at the power valve... not sure how the edelbrock/carter's are setup though. sorry

check for play inbetween the two arms connecting the acceleraitor pump to the throttle. it is supposed to be verry little, im not sure of the specs but if the gap is to large it will stumble from a dead stop.

Thanks bro i looked into it and theres no slop in the linkage.

Im wondering if more timing would help?

Its the same specs as a trickflow stage 2 anyone run these cams carbed?

Plug chops say im pretty close on jetting which is what leads me to belive its a timing issue. But ive got 14 degrees of intial timing.Kinda concerned about detonation.

what jets do you have in it?

thats a 6oo right?

my 750 holley came with 70 primary and 82 secondarys. yes holley and edelbrock are like comparing apples to oranges but those #s might help.

maybe a a/f guage would help as well, narrow band guages are pretty cheap. there not perfect but will give you a good idea of what is going on.

Could be a float sticking, I had the same problem with an old 1406. Recheck the float levels and make sure they aren't hanging up.
