Default Quick Balancer question

I got a 2.5" 5/8 fine thread bolt which is longer than the original. Would I do any damage if i used that and a few washers to press the new balancer onto the crank? I have seen things where is says not to do this and others where it says it should be fine. What is your guys opinion?

Also When using the removal tool. Is it alright to just put the pointed end into the hole on the end of the crank shaft or should I not use the pointed piece and put the bolt in the crank with no washer and put the tool up against that?

The stock bolt is a little less than 2" I believe. I wanted a 3" but they did not have one.

I am just going by the ARP specs for the under head length for a replacement bolt and I have heard that they are slightly longer than the stock bolt.
If i need to get something like a 3" to draw the balancer in I'm fine with that. I am just looking to know if it would work without stripping the crank out or breaking something else.

You have a perfect plan for pulling the threads out of the crank.
Don't do it!!!!!!!
Get a proper puller for the balancer.
Mine has an adapter for the threads in the crank.
Also use the right installation tool.
Part of the high price of building cars is buying the proper tools, once you have them then you own them for the rest of your life........
Those tools could even be rented, some parts places rent them.......

I always just bump mine on with a rubber mallet until the bolt threads in about 4 turns then tighten it up!
Just make sure the crank key and the slot in the balancer are aligned!

when i got mine frome summit the instructions said to boil it for a few minutes and install if you dont have the proper tool. i didnt try it it slid on far enough to catch more than enough threads and i just cranked it down.
