Default gauge cluster problem

Hi, Im new at this threads.
I have a problem with my mustang, the gauge cluster bokeup and I replaced it with a cluster from a 90 4cyl convertible mustang and my mustang is a 5.0 converted mustang.
My question is how di I switch the tach to 8 cyl, the mustang is an 83 and the original cluster has a switch on the back, so how do I make the newer tach read the 8 cyl ok?
