So I busted the driver mirror on my 91 5.0 LX convertible today. I have a replacement mirror but cannot figure out how to get to the bolts to remove the old one. Do I need to drill out the rivets in the door to get access? American Muscle says it is easy but with my door panel off it seems like anything but. Just glad it wasnt my 05 GT convertible but the mirror would have been easier to replace. Thanks in advance for the help.

i have a 88 vert. i have had my mirrors off. cant say that i have ever seen one riviteted on. there were to bolts to undo and it fell off...

No the mirrors arent riveted on but when I took the door panel apart I cannot figure out how to get to the bolts to take the mirror off and put the new one on. There is a black panel on my door that is held on with rivets and it appears if I drilled out the rivets and pulled that panel off I might be able to get to it.
