supercharger or turbo
I was just wondering whether i should go supercharged or turbo. I have a 91 coupe with a cold air intake, headers,h pipe, catback, short throw, a t56 tranny with 3.73 gears all on a stock longblock. it has 65k on it and i was wondering which 1 would be better for performance and reliablity to drive everyday. a Vortech s-trim with 8-10psi or a cartech turbo kit with 10psi. i was leaning supercharger because it is a 1000 dollars cheaper. but let me know what yall think

RE: supercharger or turbo
It all depends on the driver. I personally would rather have a turbo, because i already make enough torque off the line and i would almost immediately be in boost. Plus i think the turbos sound a whole lot better. Superchargers make your **** sound like and airplane taking off.

you would lose all that money you spent on your headers and hpipe and maybe even catback becasue the turbo kits come with headers and y pipe.

Turbo will give you more power by a pretty good amount, but it will most likely not kick in until around 1500-2500rpm & won't kick in hard till around 2500-3500rpm.
The turbo kit will also cost you more unless you make it yourself.

turbo would be the way to go. a bit more complicated but you get more h/p per pound of boost. theres no extra drag on the motor from a supercharger. Also spool time of a turbo depends on the size, you could have a turbo that spools at 1k rpms.but you'd want something a little larger that spools around 2500-3000 cause it'll just rip with amazing top end. i have 2 turbo cars that were never turbo, depending on how wisely you spend your money, you could have a nice setup for prolly under 2k.

I drive a 95 GT Supercharged. You are right with the supercharger being a $1000 cheaper. I am happy with the supercharger. Once i hit over 3,500 rpms the car takes off. Reagrdless of what you do, remember you are going to have to get a heavier clutch, so add that into your budget.......
