1994 Mustang GT won't start - part swap recommendations please?
Hello-
I live in Michigan, and my dad passed 6 years ago and left behind a couple cars where my mom lives in Ohio, one of them is a 1994 Mustang. At first it would start in the summer, I brought it back to Michigan 2 years ago and replaced a couple things like the coil and temperature sensor, I think I replaced spark plugs and wires... The car ran well and I drove it back to Ohio where it's been stored 2 years, and now again it won't start. Fuel consumption was higher than expected on the drive, I don't think the transmission was going into overdrive. I have replaced the battery and the engine turns over good, I can hear the fuel pump cycling as it should.
What I'm after is a list of parts I should bring along for swapping out parts to try to get the car running again. Preferably ones I could grab from a u-pull salvage yard, I've got at least 4 in my area that are pretty good. I'll be bringing a code scanner and fuel pressure gage. I'm not making any assumptions about what's wrong because I can't think of anything logical or obvious.
My guess list of parts is:
EGR valve/position sensor
Ignition module
mass air flow sensor
throttle position sensor
engine control module
fuel injectors
fuel pump module is a bit more work than I'd go through on a guess. I'm thinking something's telling the control modules something isn't right, don't send fuel and/or spark, but pretty sure fuel because for as much as I've cranked trying to start, I don't smell gas.
