Default 94 timing set install

Been a while since ive been on, but im finishing up my build for the motor from my mustang. I went to put the timing set..Trickflow billet steel double roller.. and it came with a brass spacer ring for behind the cam sprocket. When i torque down the sprocket without the gear it spins nice an freely. very little but some in n out movement. If i put that spacer ring behind, an torque it down, it doesnt spin as freely, absolutely no in n out movement and if i spin it enough, tiny brass shaving start to appear. Im assuming i leave the spacer ring out correct?

well with ring out the endplay was way over spec. with it in its back to good size but those metal brass shavings made me think it was to tight...the instructions just talked about lining up timing marks..which wasn't a problem anyway..
