Default 85 speedometer work in a 91?

edit: didn't want to start a new thread, so i figured i would just edit this one.

Will just the speedometer from an 85 work in my 91? I know the instrument cluster itself won't, but if i just switch out the speedometers will it?

Thanks.

seems to me that there is either some debris in the hole, or the clips are broken. If you keep having problems, why don't you replace it?

Does anyone have a picture of one that isn't because i'm kinda confused. There's not a slot for another tab anywhere else.

You would think so, i squeezed it like you said and i didn't hear a clicking sound, but it did manage to stay together(atleast for the little drive around the block) so we shall see if i got it. Thanks for the help.
