Summit brand cable worked just fine for me
I broke the steeda kit pretty quick but that was from header heat though and I needed a new one quick so I tried the summit and I like the adjustability

I know it is kind of a pain in the *** to keep dropping the transmission, and I am not to sure if it is replaceable on your car, but did you by any chance get to look at the pivot ball that the clutch fork sits on... I had the same problem on my sn95, replaced the clutch, the quadrant, throwout bearing sleeve(that was kind of a PITA thing to do, come to find out the pivot ball was worn out and I replaced that and the problem was solved. Does it make a squeaking noise when you push in the pedal?
