Default 90 gt aod shifting problems

i have a 90 gt aod mustang, i had a rebuilt hi po tranny with transgo shift kit put in, also installed a b&m hammer shift. my problem is this. it wont lock in to 1st or 2nd gear. its like its in drive when in 1. drive to overdrive works fine, downshifts fine, stays in 3rd when in drive unless i hit 5800 then it pops int overdrive but its supposed to do that. the place i bouight tranny from says the valve body is set up the same as stock and it should lock into first and second and that the problem is the shifter. everyone i talk to says its the valvebody not the shifter. anyone had problems locking 1 and 2 with a rebuilt tranny? any ideas? with the original tranny i could lock 1 and 2. when i first put in tranny i had stock shifter and that wouldnt lock in to 1 or 2 either. so im thinkin its the tranny but not sure what to do to fix the problem. how am i supposed to smoke the tires with it ripping thru all the gears , this a problem i need fixed.

ACTUALLY....its 1 for 1st....then quickly up to 2 then back into 1 for 2nd, then 2 for 3rd, then d for OD....

OP Make sure your shifter and everything are adjusted right and your TV cable is adjusted right
