Default possible heater core issue?

I just got off work and when I drove home I parked I noticed steam from the passenger side of my hood. When I popped it, I noticed a small drain tube from the lower section of the fire wall dripping onto my exhaust. Only thing I can figure is the heater core sprung a leak and ford engineers were concious enough to not let it spill all over the floor. Am I on the right track?

if you had a heater core leak you would have a we floorboard, not a leak on the header. Sounds like the seals going to the heater core might have gone out and need replacing but they are alot easier then the core itself.

ttocs, as I mention I would have expected a wet floor board, but theres nothing else that makes any sense for this drain tube. What I find surprising is that at least one manufacturer was thoughtful enough to do this.

There is always a drain tube for *any* moisture that accumulates in the HVAC housing. When running the AC for example. (ever see a wet spot on the ground a hot day when running the AC and parked? ;-) )

The reason some guys get a wet floor from AC use and/or a leaking heater core is because this drain tube is plugged up.

The first obvious question should what color is the liquid lol. If you turn your heater vents on you should also smell the sweet smell of coolant and most likley fog up your window.
