Default transmission

I have a 1994 mustang, it was a v-6. im putting in a 347 stroker with a PA c-4 trans (car has tubular k-member) the transmission doesn't come close to the bracket, its almost 2" off. I have the motor installed in the front mount. should I be using a different transmission mount?

Default starter

Also i'm having problems with the starter. It worked fine outside the car when i bench tested it, now the motor spins but bendix doesnt work. the motor is grounded to the body, Should I also ground the starter to the body? i've got hot in to a solenoid, ign. switch wire to terminal, "i", bendix lead to "s" *also tried using "i" and the switched hot to the starter. something has run amuck. it worked fine before i installed it.

sounds like you might not be getting contact with the flexplate. What I'm really wondering is why you are trying to start the car without the trans fully bolted down.

As for getting the mount onto the crossmember, the factory trans should have had a plate between the trans and the mount. You need that.

I dont think its a meshing issue, I'm not even hearing the bendix "CLICK" at all. im unsure of tooth count etc purchased the motor as is. Does the starter need a seperate ground?

it had the automatic, whatever came in it in 1994. I didnt get the car with motor or trans. I read that the c4 should bolt right up with the stock crossmember but its not even close. I might modify the crossmember with a plate that will reach the trans. its not a height issue, its the trans mount falls 2" before the crossmember. As for the starter im going to fool around with it today and hopefully get some results.

seems you hit the nail on the head. its a typical 94-95 mustang starter, the teeth sit away from the flywheel and are too aggressive, the flywheel tooth pattern is smaller (more teeth) so it must be the 164 tooth. what vehicle should I look for as far as starter goes, 60's mustang?

okay well I might have been mistaken, gear mesh looks like it will work, from what ive read on this subject and it seems like a shady area but I may have wrong bellhousing for the starter or starter for bellhousing however you want to look at it, the starter gear sits back from the flywheel roughly 3/4 of an inch, I need a starter to match the bellhousing (no way in hell im going to change bellhousing) so I'm assuming this is the "big" bellhousing. this is also a performance automatic transmission if this could be any help. So I need to know what starter matches the bigger bellhousing. As for the transmission mount I custom fabbed a piece of 1/8th inch plate steel mounted in factory crossmember to sit flush with the top of the member (ie right where elevation was stock). good news is this transmission must be brand new as they never even had the correct starter on it. sorry for long post.
