Done had no idea what it could be. finally checked fuel pressure 40 at idile and in gear it dropped to 20. good thing for lifetime warrenty i removed the fp yesterday and installed a new one today went to test it and full trottle no hessitation all the way to 5000 rpm. Finally when i took off in 2nd i smelled burnt cluth but it finally ran. Never would of suspected furl pump thanks to all. Ive yet to see someone disconnect battery before welding exhaust but doesnt hurt to start dixxconnecting it.

You must have yokals working on your car. Welding uses high voltages... Anyone who welds on a car without disconnecting the battery, should have their sack welded in between two plates of 1/4" thick steel stock, then smacked with a hammer.

So......the guys set your timing and told you it wasn't advancing....but your fuel pump was the issue....SOUNDS LIKE the "mechanic" you are taking the car to is an IDIOT.....

I'm wondering if it was not advancing the whole time, but was not found til the car ran like crap because of the fuel pump failure.

FYI, if you put an A9L computer on an harness from an automatic, thats the exact thing that happens. Car will not advance timing and will eventually fail completely.

If you dont know how to tell if the harness is form an auto or 5 speed, it can be told from the O2 sensor plug.

A guy named Dan laid out an awesome pictuoral on a Cleveland based Mustang site.
