1987 GT transmissioon removal?
Hey guys, Im removing my flex plate on my AOD currently.
the steps I took were removing the four bolts on the rear end of the drive shaft, then sliding it out.
there were 6 bolts on the bell housing that were removed, as well as the crossmember. The problem im having now is sliding the transmission away from the engine. There is a gap that is viewable from the bay seperating the engine from the transmission, but i dont know exactly how to remove and drop the transmission.
any ideas guys?

Did you remove the 4 bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate?
If you choose to not remove those bolts, you will have to pull the transmission 100% straight back to remove it, the splined shaft will bind inside the converter under any semblance of an angle.
If you haven't removed them, they're pretty straight forward. Hardest part about it is rotating the engine. Two ways to do it, either a socket on the crank or a prybar on the flywheel. I suggest the socket.

^ sliding it strait back is pretty much impossible while in the car without causing damage as well. I swapped out the tranny on my 86 grand prix I had, those bolts were held in with red lock-tite meaning they don't normally come out easy. I would try a jack with a block of wood on it if you have enough room, it should be enough. I can't remember how I did it exactly. Just also make sure you have all your plugs and linkages disconnected as well
