Default 1985 Mustang Convertible floor pan removal.

Im trying to swap out my floor pans in a 1985 Mustang Convertible and I can't seem to find the rivets... They seem to be inside the rocker panels somewhere.

Any help appreciated...

Thanks

Sorry I knew they were spot welds, I took the panels from a 87 donor car and had to drill them all out. Problem Im finding is that the spot welds on the '87 were easily accessible from the cabin area but in the '85 they seem to be integrated in the drip rail underneath the car.

Any one have insight??

i am assuming you took the floor out of a hardtop?? you might have to drill the rivets out of the added convertible floor bracing to get it out of the way...i dont have my 91 here at work to see what it looks like under the car

It was a hardtop donor car yes and Im seeing that the extra support is a beach to get out it goes up to the firewall and back under the backseat. Ive been searching the net all day and have come to the conclusion the fastest way is to cut out the extra support to get at the floor pan spot welds then just weld it back in.

Still accepting advice, just trying to come up with a plan.

I was gonna do the same thing with my 83. I had the floors already cut out of a car and just had to drill the welds out and cut off the rocker panel then I thought about it...

**** THIS...

I will just spend the $250 on brand new pans that I don't have to fight with. Cuting out one set is enough of a PITA let alone 2...

I hear ya on the PITA. BUT I already got my donor panels cleaned up, they are in very good shape. Now I just need to get the floor pans outta my stang.
