Default 347 stroker kit?

Hey guys, i just got my mustang, and pulled the motor outta it. i was just gonna do the basic rebuild kit and bore it to a 306.... but then i was thinkin about it, and i wanted to do a 347 stroker. does anyone have any input on them... im going to get the Scat Kit with pistons, rods, crank, rings, bearings, outta Northern auto parts for 700 bux, and just put a whole motor together by myself. i really want to get the BBK SSI intake, any input on them too? i cant find any reveiws on them. what size cam would be good for it. im goin with roller rockers also, with new lifters and everything. i have a set of MAC Shorty headers to put on it too.

Thanks, your guys's input is appreciated alot since im new to fords, been in hondas since i was 16(now 19) so now im wantin a real car, now a cracker jack car....

fullauto is a member here who deals in stroker kits. he can probably match or come really close to northern - you should shoot him a PM and see what he has to say.

pretty much EVERYONE will tell you the BBK intakes are garbage (even though they look really cool). from what i head the best ones to get are a holley systemax II, followed by trick flows and edelbrocks.

long tube headers are best, but if you already have the shorty headers you might as well run with em. rocker arms i like the crane energizers cause they arent expensive as hell but they have very good build quality. (i'm using them)

the cam is the great debate. some will tell you to shell out for a custom grind, while others are happy with a properly selected off the shelf stick. for something streetable you probably want to look in the general area of the Trick Flow Stage 1 / Ford Racing E-303 size range, (i wouldnt get the E though, stick with a dual pattern design). comp, crane, and lunati all make quality pieces so there is no issue as far as thats concerned.

the BIG question though...... what are you going to do about heads? stock 302 heads are chokers on a stock motor, let alone a 347 stroker. ya need to be at least looking in the GT40 range, but preferrably something from Trick Flow / AFR / RHS / Canfield / etc

yea, i will most deffinately give him a PM and see what kinda deal he can get me.... i was wondering that bout the BBK.... so i decided with just a Trickflow intake. and the crane cams roller rockers are the ones that i hae in my cart on Northern. the cam is yes a debate, but i will get it figured out. i do have a set of shorties, but i wasnt sure if longtubes would be better or not, cuz the shorties came with the car so i will prolly buy some long tubes. and for heads.... yea i wanna do some GT40 heads if i can find the rite deal. otherwise im just gonna stick stock ones back on it after i do a headjob... and prolly just do my own lil bit-a porting

Honestly you should really think about buyinga 351w instead of getting a stroker. I rebuilt mine and all that and then I signed on as a member on here and I read about how to swap in a 351w instead... Now I wish I had found this place sooner, cause I would much rather have a 351w than my 306... Just something to think about.

I didn't have the money for a stroker kit. Plus I kinda jumped into it all without knowing really what I was getting.

yeah i done the same thing. should have went with a 351 b/c u can make about 600rwhp and be ok on a stock block. for another 100lbs it makes enough power to justify the swap.

That kit has Keith Black hypereutectic pistons. The kits in my sig have upgraded Probe SRS forged pistons. My kits are a MUCH better deal for only $50 more. But if you want the cheap pistons, I'll beat that price too.
