Okay, so about a week ago I had gotten some gas and about an hour later I was leaving the store and my car felt very bogged down. Around 3k rpm or so it would come back to life and run like normal till it fell back below and the car fell on its face. Also has rough idle and a "chugging" feeling.
Now, thinking maybe it was bad gas I ran the tank very low, added some dryer and changed the filter. The problem was still there but instead it never opens back up at higher RPM.
My latest attempt was a Trick flow 255 Fuel pump and I still have had no luck with the problem.
So I'd like to get some ideas before I spend even more money on parts and chance the problem staying.

does your car still have the factory catalytic converters?

No it has a full exhaust on it. (BBK off road X and SLP LM1 dumps)

But a hole was busted out where the hook goes up into the trans hanger, i welded it and it was fine but since this problem started i also notice a possible exhaust leak on the same side where the whole was.

Rough part here is that just about every sensor on the engine can produce symptoms similar to that during a failure, as well as injectors and cracked valve springs.

Fire up the ol' self test and get some codes first.

Ive been thinking its something with the injectors, because the car has been running very rich and its to the point you can smell a lot of fuel. would springs also cause this?

It could affect the combustion process, which would mimic a fuel problem, but wouldn't create a smell. If you're running as rich as you say, I'd be looking for an injector or 4 that are wide open.

I guess I could get in and check the springs and if they look ok, rule them out?

Springs breaking are much rarer than other options. Start with codes. If you have an O2 rich code, check injectors.

could this same problem happen when the computer says i'm running to lean? i've been having some of the same issues with lean codes on my 07.
