solenoid smoking after flood
My car went under water from irene, up to hood. Dried EVERYTHING out. even computer. pulled all the plugs out and changed the oil, and went to turn motor over and starter solenoid immediatly started smoking. All i did was put power to the car. didnt turn the key or anything. KEy off.
when it went thru the flood, the battery wasnt in the car.
can i jump the solenoid to turn it over? what do I have to jump?

probably water in the solenoid. you should replace pretty much anything electrical in the car.
this is why cars get totalled from floods... good luck with the pending headaches that your recently submerged paperweight has in store for you.

I'm parting the whole car out. I bought it submerged in a flood. despite the fact there are TONS of nice stuff on it i can sell. Exhaust cervini hood bumper, wing, black wet interior, 89 140mph cluster, 5 lug conversion the list goes on.
But I want to do smokey burnouts before I take it all apart, and teach my girl to do the same. It couldve probably been sold for 4G before the loss, its a nice car. I paid 700 for it.
