Default lapping compund

I have a set of gt40p heads and to get a valve job, plus milling is going to take me out of my price range. So if i lap the valves, the valves arent in bad shape, i can save money. Ill do a leak check to make sure i have a good seal. So my question is should i lap the valves before having them milled, or true up. I know the heads are warped, can see them wobble on the table. I just cant justify spending the money they want on a valve job plus milling etc., on cast iron heads. Trying to save money. Thanks

whose to say your table isn't warped?? that's not a good way to judge warpage, you need a feeler gauge and a straight edge to check for such

You really need a good valve job to begin with.
I hand lap the valves on my race motor when I have the heads off for new springs.
Just save some money and then find a shop that can do a good 3 angle vave job.......

Do you think I can get away with just a lapping job. The way I figure it, I paid 100 for the heads, then it'll be another 300 plus for a valve job and milling, then another 150 for valves, so 550 plus for cast iron heads, and that doesn't include if it needs anything else. It'd almost be better to just scrap the heads and look for something aluminum. Which is what I might just do anyway. Thanks.

If you want to do all of that I will drive down to Missery and take them off your hands I will gladly put another set of GT40s to use

Most of the gain from a valve job is fresh guides. Lapping is only to get that final seal.

well my thought behind it was, the shop told me i could just put the valves back in,and probably be ok. I thought the lapping wouldnt hurt to try, but i think if im gonna do all this work, in taking the motor a part, why skimp out on the valve job. Thank for the help.
