Default Help with high beams

I used the search but I couldn't find anything. My high beams won't stay on but they work when I pull the staulk in. Does this mean I have to replace the multi-function switch?

when mine did that, I replaced the multifunction switch and it fixed the problem. 97 mustang. it was easy to do. you do not have to remove the steering wheel for this. to save some money, pull the switch first. mine had a fairly obvious electrical burn spot on one of the contacts.

Are they flashing off and on or staying off? If staying off I would replace the switch as mentioned. If they are flashing fox bodies have an issue where ford used too small of a wire and they can flash when the headlight switch gets too hot or something like that, anyway the solution is to hook up a relay system

Yes, when the lights don't work by pushing forward, you need to replace the switch.

not to steal this thread, but does anybody have a good listing of color codes of headlight switch pigtail to multi-function switch. I have a similar problem on my 87 GT only I don't have any headlights at all (but the flash to pass does work) marker and turn signals all work.
Note: have new pigtail to finish installing on headlight switch colors do not match what is on the car.

Assuming that your 87 is wired the same as the 88 and 89 go here
http://home.comcast.net/~smithmonte/...stang_EVTM.htm

Open Page 0 find what you're looking for and then go back and open that page.

Hopefully this helps?

I was gonna type up a list, but going through my diagrams and doing that would be tedious as all hell, and I'm not gettin paid.

And the exact reason I've never done it.
