Default 93 AOD does not shift into 3rd

The AOD does not shift into third. After going through its rev cycle in 2nd, the RPM revs high as if in neutral, but will not drop below 2,000 RPM. I was only able to drive it home in 2nd gear. The fluid level was fine and the color was normal. Do you think it could be the TV cable?

Please don't tell me to throw away the transmission and install a manual or C4. I want to keep an AOD in it.

Does it shift out of 2nd at all and then feel like its in nuetral or does it stay in 2nd gear and doesn't shift at all?

Yes, it feels like it's in neutral. I went out and looked at the throttle body and that cable is broken. I'll order a new one from LRS this week.

That is the only reason i done like the AOD i preffer the E. But if you still have the same issue you may wanna,,,,, (have you serviced the tranny recently if so what did the pan look like dark grey then shinny when you dumped it?) If so then you may need some new frictions, or it could be as simple as the 2-3 accumulator/actuator (which ever you want to call it) wedged crooked that will cause it to fail to shift from 2-3 also.

The fluid will look fine. Since u don't wanna hear what u NEED to do, save up about $2200 and rebuild it so it can break again in 6 months. Save up again, and repeat when necessary

Well he doesn't NEED to go with a manual or C4 BUT he can spend the money and beef up the AOD so it won't break again.... For $2200 he can buy a built one.

Yeah after reading this the kickdown cable has nothing to do with it going into the gear itself. It is just as states, it kicks down a gear when you open the throttle. Trans is just going to need replaced/rebuilt as stated

it'll break again, and where can you get a "GOOD" aod for under $2200 ? please dont say TCI

the only one id use is lentech http://www.lentechautomatics.com/aodproducts.html

his cheapest one is $2000, then your looking at another $500 for the converter and thats for a 300 hp car. all stock with a little nitrous and you've exceeded that trans

i dont bash AOD's for no reason, i broke too many to EVER trust them. and dealt with their meager performance the whole time.
