Default 93 Mustang Gt help!

Hi Im new here. I had a couple ??'s My 93 mustang GT is a little sluggish on takeoff. It's an AOD trans,but the trans shifts really good. I was thinking MAF sensor or vaccuum? Any input would be really helpful! Thanks.

Sluggish is a very broad term. The AOD is most likely the issue(they're called slushbox for a reason), but no one here can give a diagnosis based on "sluggish".

o.k. rough idle. Then the car kinda sputters at low rpm. then seems to smooth around second gear. The trans seems to be shifting o.k. I will have to pay attention when I drive it later to give a more accurate description.

AOD's are horribly undergeared.

to have 1st gear equality of a 5 speed car on 2.73's you need 4.10's to be the same ratio

your AOD is a 2.40 1st compared to a 3.35 1st in a t5, read your door tag for your rear end gears

m=2.73
z=3.08
e=3.27

even on 3.27 you need wet pavement to break the tires loose

that combined with a little drivability stuff is your issue.

check your plugs...dont use platinums, and gap them about .046" NOT .052" you should see that spark issue go away, but it'll still be a 14.60 car

Actually changed the plugs today! She woke up quite a bit! I was thinking of putting a shift kit in the trans and going w/ 4.10 gears. Im gonna change the mass air flow as well. Also Im gonna do all the preventative maintenance. I just want a stout street car really. The body needs some work as well. then suspension. what can I pull a 4.10 gear out of at a junk yard? Also the same w/ fuel injection and maybe some gt40 heads? Are there certain models that are better? Lincolns,f-150's,T-birds,broncos? Any swap info would help. Thanks alot!

haha...thanks

4.10's can be had from ANY pickup that used an 8.8 (f150/250 probably?? check late 80's and early 90's)

same codes as i put before, i cant remember what 3.55, 3.73, and 4.10 codes are though. i'll check

a shift kit will help a lot, a 3000 stall converter from precision idustries or lentech will really make a diff.

i tried the AOD thing twice and gave up. if i ever did it again it would ONLY be with a lentech AOD, they give a warranty too

4.10's are a must

swapping the meter wont do anything, stock induction will support about 300 hp, i went 12.50's on stock EVERYTHING...just a 75 shot and 4.10's on my '89

for suspension i like the mega bite jr lower control arms, i wont use anything else. uppers arent needed, but a good tire is.

NOT NITTOS !!!!

i like mickey thompson et streets..... radial or bias ply both work equally well

either spray it, or do heads and intake.

an intake on stock heads will gain nothing...neither will injectors, meter, throttle body...nothing until you increase the flow of the heads.

people will tell you it will...but it wont, and you'll waste a ton of money
