Default Engine Swap Advice Wanted

I bought my '87 GT T-Top almost a year ago. It has Holley SystemMax mods: upper/lower intake, heads, headers, throttle body, short throw, cats, 3.73 rear end...etc. I believe the engine was bored 30 over and rebuilt over the course of a few years. It has 142K, it is burning oil and getting tired. I'm not a mechanic but I can do minor modifications myself. Money is not a concern. I was thinking of swapping the engine for a new 302 and adding power via blower, turbo. I want it streetable but I also want it a little faster than it is now. I know I have lots of options all the way to a 427. I don't want to have to modify the body to shoe horn in a big freaking monster of an engine nor do I want to blow head gaskets. Any advice on a new engine and mild streetable performance upgrades would be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas.
