Installing new ignition lock cylinder Help!!! 1986 GT
Okay so being the half wit that I am I lost the key to the ignition of my mustang. I don't have another one and ford can't cut me one. To get a locksmith to cut a new one it will cost me 200 dollars. So instead I bought a new ignition lock cylinder that came with 2 new keys. Again I am an imbicile and just now found out that to remove the old cylinder I have to have the key to turn it to the on posistion. My only hope is an article I found that explains how to remove the ignition lock cylinder without the original key. The problem is that the instructions are for 87 to 93 gt mustangs. I have an 86 gt mustang. -_- I don't understand why this process wont work for my 86 gt. Or will it? Link to the instructions http://www.mylrs.com/blogs/lrs/archi...tallation.aspx . Please help me! Its always been my dream to own and restore one of these legends! And it will be horrid if I end up having spent 50 bucks for a part I can't use and then pay another 200 for a new key. Help Me!

Once in my 88gt the lock jammed and wouldnt let the key out...!! Somehow i managed to wiggle key out, but lock wouldnt turn, since that was the case i had to drill it out piece by piece..., I WASNT too carefull either. 15min of drilling and the lock was out in about 10 pieces., went to STupidzone and picked up a new 1!!

yes with out the key you will need to break the cylinder in some way to get it to turn to release. Your local car thief will know how to do it but He probably does not know if the new ignition will slide into place.
