no charge after 3g swap

no charge after 3g swap
I got done with the swap and finally managed to jump start my car, but I checked voltage and I am only getting battery voltage which is low right now. So here's what I know, I ran the 4 gauge wire through a circuit breaker to the starter solenoid. I soldered ring connectors on the black/orange wires and hooked them up. Since I did not have a dedicated stator wire, I ran a wire off the output post back into the stator. My regulator plug could use cleaning, but I know it wouldn't prevent a charge. I am getting voltage throughout, but no charge. I'm thinking the alt may be faulty, which sucks, but what do you guys think? Just want a second opinion, thanks

I've heard horror stories like that before, but I figure hey they gotta replace it, better than buying used and taking a chance because it was "known" to be working. Im going to give it a shot, I hope its just that, my battery needs charged
