92 Tremec TKO Electrical Connections
Hello,
First of all, what a great Mustang community you have here.
I have signed up a few days ago and have been reading and enjoying the wealth of information that is available here!
Having collected most parts to convert my 92 LX 302 from AOD to TKO600.
After reading many posts I am still not 100% sure regarding the various electrical connections at the transmission and the pedals.
Pedals: gray box, 1 black 2-lead connector-starter interrupt, currently has jumper. 1 clear 2-lead connector- currently not used, its purpose I don't know.
Switch under quadrant with pig tail - cruise control disconnect. Currently has pig tail and is located behind stereo.
The AOD trans. harness has 2 pig tails: 1 black 2-lead connector that is connected at the speedo cable pick up. Its purpose I don't know.
1 gray 4-lead connector that is connected to another short extension that goes into the trans. (neutral safety switch, and reverse lights)
Ford is (was) selling an other extension harness for T5 that would plug into my AOD trans harness and connects to the reverse light switch on the side of the TKO. It appears that this extension also has a jumper for the neutral safety. (would that jumper activate the clear connector above the pedals?)
The factory T5 harness has an additional pig tail (2-lead connector) that I believe connects to the pig tail that comes from the forward top of the T5.
Its purpose I don't know.
The TKO has a total of 3 connections available: reverse lights, mechanical speedo (like AOD) and a pig tail at the rear for neutral safety.
Since I have read everything from "no problems when using the AOD harness."
To "fried computers when not using the T5 harness" and various drive-ability
issues in between, I would like to eliminate the potential for major problems.
Any clarifications are greatly appreciated!
