Default Transmission problem?

Hello all, new here. First let me say I used the search tool and I found some similar scenarios but nothing that is exactly what I'm looking for so I'm just going to make a new thread.

I have a 1989 5.0 fox body. It's an Automatic transmission swapped from a manual transmission. So the other day I wanted to go for a drive well I put it in reverse and it wouldn't go so I gave it a little gas and it jerked forward then killed. I haven't been able to start it since; unless I use a screwdriver on the solenoid on the side panel in the engine bay. Although even when I use that method to start the car it still won't shift into reverse, in fact it won't shift into anything else Neutral, Reverse, Park, etc... It only goes forward, which in essence is what the car does best but still...

I've read that neutral safety switch is a big factor in all of this but even if I bypass it I still can't switch gears, any ideas?

Lemme get this straight:

You started your car, put the shifter in reverse, pressed the gas, and that caused the car to jerk forward (opposite of reverse), then died, and hasn't been able to restart since?

It stays running if you jump the solenoid, but you have no gears other than forward?

If the answer to both of those is yes, then... uhh.. idk? Weird. Any takers? lol

Maybe the cars mad at you for swapping it to AOD lol as for jumping the solenoid, make sure the little wire on the s terminal didn't come loose. The transmission...hmm...check your linkages from your shifter. Its a very odd situation, but I'm thinking if something came loose its hitting a wrong gear and may not be engaging that gear in full.

I'm not exactly the expert on transmissions, however I would start with the linkage, and gear shifter.

The Neutral Safety Switch shouldn't have any impact on it at all as the transmission is not electronically controlled until the AODE came out.

my guess is that it wants to be with all the other AOD's

in the boneyard. its probably the worst trans EVER built by anyone, and ive had 2 AOD cars
