i am under the impression that re-using head studs is a bad idea.
so, i checked summit

i assume these are a better choice than bolts.

also, do you guys have a go-to parts supplier, or do you typically just shop around?

ARP is what most racers/builders are using that I know of.
ARP makes some real nice stuff, I've been using it for years.....

i have heard it on more than one occasion that they stretch or something.
maybe what i heard was just for bolts?

im pretty sure what i have now is ARP, just dont remember if its studs or bolts

torque to yield bolts are non reusable, arp bolts / studs can be reused many times

that probably just saved me a bunch of money (assuming i am correct that i have ARP stuff)

Yes you do NOT want to re-use torque to yield bolts. And no, they are not economy line, they are used out of the factory. The idea is they stretch to slightly change the thread pitch which will bind the threads. It is done to prevent them from backing off and loosen up, obviously you don't want your head doing that.

If you have ever had a broken bolt that you struggled to get out you will not even question the price on a good set of bolts. ARP is great stuff.

If your bolts/studs are ARP, that will be stamped on them very clearly.......

the main points are already said..BUT do you really need to spend 3x as much on studs when regular bolts do just fine...

what are your plans on the motor?

at approximately 11:15 last night i was driving in my car thinking about these studs, then i was like, wait, how will i know if what i have are ARP or not?
