Default 86 trying to swap in a 390

So, I have an 86 gt that right now has a 5.0, but I recently found a car that I bought as a donor thinking it had a 351, but have now found out that it has a 390 in it with a c6 and a 9inch rear end. so I was thinkin just doin a whole drivetrain swap. Anyone tried this before or know anyone who has? Is it a possible swap? any advise would be appreciated

I'm pretty sure it's nearly a straight drop in, cept the trans cross member. Maybe some issues with control arms on the 9" depending on width.
Strictly hearsay though, never done it.

I really don't know where you are going to find that stuff either.
You'll be custom building everything as I've never seen any of it for sale 'off the shelf'.

I'm a little bit familar with the FE series of engines.
Better plan on something for a front spring on that car too, the FE is just about the heavy wieght king. With iron heads and intake they are about 650#.
A much better swap would be a 351C if you wanted to be differant.
Everything for that can be had 'off the shelf'.

Ive seen alot of 351 swaps, Ive done 2 myself. There is a decent aftermarket for the 390, and I would be doin new heads and intake on it before I tried the swap. I was thinking doing the tubular front end, and jegs has an option for the big block motor mounts but it doesnt say which big block

I have a 66 coupe with a 289. Thinking about swapping it for 351. Will it be a straight drop in?
