I figured you were joking, its just like I and ttocs said for us to help you we need all the info we can get. Knocks and ticks can sound the same to an untrained ear

You could also try some transmission fluid in the oil. May lube up a stuck lifter.

Lifters do bleed off so it may be better to do while warm.

How did you get the pony off the cap to paint them? Just prise them off? I want a set and since I can't buy them anywhere, I may do the paint thing myself.
Well im at dmv today doin the thing. I have a video but imma have to figure out how to post it., on vid you can clearly hear the tick/knock. Ill try from work later. Thanks

Oh and the ponies i just covered the center cap ponie with masking tape and used a razor to cut around the ponie., worked nice! I would deff rec you spray em yourself.., easy., fast., cheap!

If the sound fades as it warms up its a pretty good indication it isn't a knock, a knock tends to keep hammering no matter what.

So noise that goes away as the engine warms up is likely just a hydraulic lifter bleeding off then filling back up as the engine warms? Any reason for concern, or can it be put off til one can afford adjustable lifters and new springs?
