Default Help! running to hot

Hey guys, been fighting a problem for a little while now, thought I would get some input before spending any more $$$ on it. Basically, my 95 gt slowly starts running to hot after driving for a while. It usually takes 45min to an hour and the needle will get between the "a" and the "L" in "normal" on the guage. Don't have an aftermarket guage yet so I don't know the exact temperature. I always shut the car off before it can get any hotter. I have tried removing the condensor, and installing a new OEM radiator but the problem is still there. Water pump is OEM as well and T-stat is fairly new. I found that if I stop and let the car idle, the temp will slowly go back down. My thinking is I just need a bigger radiator and maybe a high flow pump, what do you guys think? Mods are in sig below, car make approx 400 HP at flywheel.

If you're being honest, then yes, you need a larger radiator. 400hp is a tad high for a stock radiator. High flow pump might be overkill. I'd start with a larger radiator and go from there.

You may want to try a new T stat with a lower threshold before replacing the radiator...Matt is correct about the 400 ponies being a little hogh for the OEM refit. Try a new T-tsat...

That car doesnt need a larger radiator. My 347 runs fine on a stock cooling system.

Have you had the car tuned yet? My guess would be that your timing is jacked up, your fan temps are probably set too high, and you are likely running a 195° thermostat with a poor coolant/water mix.

Car has a Mail order Tune from Willie Lynch at dirty racing, timing is set a 12 degrees BTDC, Fans set to come on at 160 degrees I believe but not positive, and T-stat is 160 degree tstat. Like stated before, it only does the issue when driving 40-50 MPH down the road. Will slowly cool back down at idle. I would like to get a dyno tune, but can't afford it at the moment, will have to save $$$ for a while. Also the closest place I know of that does that around here is Brenspeed which is about a 2-hour drive from here.

Oh also, coolant mixture is just 50/50 coolant and distilled water with some water wetter in there also. Hydrometer tested it good to -34 degrees

Odd. If it's "cooling" at idle, your fans have to be working. Coolant is fine and circulation seems fine. I'd contact Willie Lynch and tell them your problem and see if they can figure out if it's the tune. If not, I'm at a loss.
