Default Fuel gauge not working after new tank install

I just installed a new tank, a new fuel pump and new sending unit. I used the old fuel gauge from the last tank.

I have only added maybe a gallon to the tank, but the guage says I have a full tank

Is it just because I havent filled it all the way up yet?

Stuck at full is one of two things in this scenario: Either the wiring for the sending unit has become fully grounded, or the sending unit was installed slightly off, and the swing-arm is stuck up. I recall the inside of the tank where the sending unit goes is quite tight, you may be stuck inside.

Damnit! Thanks Mattdel, I was hoping the system needed pressure or something other than me having to drop the tank again. The straps were a pain in the butt

Really? Straps are only one bolt.

Thats what I thought, I got the tank and straps and sending unit from LRS. The straps needed to be like 1 inch longer, I had to work pretty hard to get the bolt in

Thats how almost all tanks on all cars are designed. What you wanna do is get yourself a 2 or 3 foot extension bar for the ratchet, use the bar + socket to push the bolt up into the hole as its in the strap. Takes a little muscle but it's purposely designed that way.
