EGR / idle re set ?

EGR / idle re set ?
I recently removed the EGR from my 86LX. It was one of the last few pieces of smog stuff left on the car. I bought the block off plate and the resistor plug to complete the removal. I also capped off the vac line that was running to the EGR. Since Ive done this Im having a occasional idle surge and when letting the car idle for about 25 seconds or so the car will die.
Does it make sense to do a idle re set on the car or just hook the EGR back up ? I was surprised that the removal created a issue since there is none of the smog stuff still remaining on it. I wouldnt of thought that the EGR was doing much of anything , guess it was.

I didnt think the delete would cause the issue either. I capped the line to the EGR valve , I guess it could be a co incidence or maybe I bumped another vac line while I was messing around. I didnt have the issue til I did the delete. Ill re trace my steps. I just wanted someone to verify that I shouldnt of had to do a idle re set for a EGR delete. Thanks...
