Default rocker arm/ lifter question

Hey all, after finally finding out that my rocker arms and a few lifters came apart i am putting everything back together. i ordered some trick flow lifters and rocker arms but during install noticed something i had not before.
After the nut on top of the rocker arms is tightened to the point where the front (spring side) of the rocker will not move, i am able to push down on the back of the rocker and compress it slightly. this occures because the middle of the lifter compresses slightly, at least to a point. When tightening to zero lash, am i also taking this play out of the back of the rocker as well? By tightening a little more it does stop compressing and i would assume this must be done to keep the valvetrain tight. Any insight is always appreciated

I always leave my lifters in a quart jug of oil until I am ready to install them.

Loosen the rockers a bit. Pull the distributor and prime the engine until you have oil out of all pushrods. Then adjust them. I always soak the rockers in oil too after I have washed and checked them for defects. It makes the initial start-up a lot quieter.
