My Check engine light came on in my 95 5.0 and when i hooked up the scan tool, there was a communication error. I tried a few other test but got the same answer every time. Where should I start to fix this? Would it be a problem with the DLC itself or something further down the line?

What did you connect to? Not on inside, but behind passenger shock tower.

Some 95 models have an OBD-II connection under the dash. It's not functional, just the middle of the transitionary phase between 95 and 96.

the above response op are correct, the v-6 and v-8 used the same harness and the v-6 was obd 2 and 5.0 was obd -1 , go out and look by the shock tower and run a koer test with a paper clip
