Default Mini Spool 8.8

I have a 1987 Fox. I want to put in JEGS Mini Spool in rear-end. My question is it a direct replacement or do I need other parts to go with it? Also without pulling my axles out a head of time, how do I know if I have 28 spline or 31 spline? I put a different rear-end in a few years back. It has 3.73 gears and was told it was out of a Cobra but don't know for sure. Don't know if that makes a difference on how many splines my axles are.

thank you in advance.

Virtually all came with 28s, up through 1999. Taking others' word for what you have is foolish. The only certain way to find out is pull an axle out to check it. No way of knowing if your 8.8 has been messed-with already or not.

Not sure what is meant by "mini spool". Any spool is simply a stripped differential carrier held in place conventionally by two tapered roller bearings, to which is bolted the ring gear. The method of engaging the axle spline ends may be by splined spool, or locked differential bearings inside the spool. A spool driven daily will quickly "eat" your rear tires. Mine added to my reputation by squealing the tires when pulling into Bob's Big Boy restaurant.

show a link to the spool. The one i had didnt need any other parts then what came with it, What kind of power do you make and does the car hook well? I broke mine after one season. Went with a full spool and never had issues after that...
