Sounds like your on the right path. Let us know what fuel pressure is at prime/engine cranking/ and at idle. Then does it hold pressure when you turn it off?

so i rented the fuel Pressure gauge from A/Z., and started. At prime it went to 10 and here is the funny thing, now that i can see this gauge as i turn the key i could see that the best way to get more pressure was to turn the key back and forth very quickly to get to 30 (about 6 times) then cranked it (info- havent turned car on for 1 day and this was the 1st crank, and usually takes about 5min of cranking to turn on) started right up. Pressure was at about 39-40 at idle. So im thinking low pressure = long time to prime. I picked up a new fuel filter for about $14, installed it in 10min. So i turn the key and primes but sounds stronger this time. At prime the gauge read about 12-15, 2nd prime was at 30 and before the new filter it stayed at 10 on 2nd prime., turned key and started up ( normal since i had turned it on already an hour ago) gauge read 40 and drove car felt strong and more responsive on the low end. Im crossing my fingers and hope it turns on 1st thing tomorrow morning since thats when it acts up! Oh by the way i turned the old fuel filter upside down with flow facing up and all i can see is little black pieces of small tiny rocks like dust as it was going into a clear water bottle. I have picks and will post later.., its a trip how much crap was in that filter!

Soon as pump primes, you should have 32-38 lbs pressure right away. Don't know why it doesn't. Does it hold pressure after you turn car off?

so i ahve a pressure problem because as soon as i turn key guage reads about 10-12 not 32-38..., but at idle it sits at 40 and when i shut off it holds pressure at 10...? Bad fuel regulator..? This sucks because its my only car and no offense to some of you but iv had bad experiences with mechanics and since then iv been wrenching away!

Yeah, regulator is a good place to start. My car holds 36-38 lbs at prime, idle, and for about hour after I turn. the car off. I'm no mechanic so I don't know why yours is at 40 lbs running or 10-12 at prime. Your losing pressure somewhere. My money is on a bad regulator. Do you have good vacuum at the regulator? If not, check for leaks. Good luck.

Still have prob! I changed out the fuel press regulator. I realized that it doesnt matter if its cold out or morning time because if i dont turn on every 6-8 hours then thats when it wont turn on again? Im running out of ideas and $$.., Is it possible that i have no spark after 8 hours of it being untouched and after about 20 attempts after trying i have spark..? Im about to rip the gas pump out and replace.., but still iffy..!
