I hear many talk about looking up codes, How is this done?

the easiest way is to go to your local pep boys, autozone or whatever and have them scan it for free for you.

the problem is...there are 3 checks you can do and i doubt they will do all of them

the first is KOEO, or "key on, engine off" these are stored codes
then KOER, or "key on , engine running" these are codes it will pull as it runs a self test
then you can do a cylinder balance test, and the computer will assess each cylinder and tell you which ones (if any) are weak

all of it can be done with a paper clip or jumper wire, you use it on the "eec self test" at your firewall on the drivers side

the small single connector needs to be jumpered to the top right on the self test port

(dont just try them all...google for the correct one, because one is power and your sure to cook something if you jumper that to the self test port)

then you have to count flashes, but after a series of flashes for each different test

the KOER are the most important codes IMO
