Default Speedometer Issue

I rebuilt my t5 tranny and replaced the speedo gear. I also replaced the speedsensor and speedo cable and my speedometer still does not work. What could be causing this? the odometer doesn't work either. would you think that the speedometer and odometer have to be in sync? when i installed the speedo cable i made sure it snapped into place in back of the cluster.

I also have the same problem. Did you figure it out? If so please pass on that information.

Please tell me what this so called speed sensor is. Which speedometer gear did you change? The driven gear or the drive gear inside the transmission.

I replaced the speed sensor that attaches to the external part of the t5 tranny and the drive gear attached to the speed sensor and the drive gear in the transmission.

I have this same problem. EXCEPT, my odometer always worked, and the speedo cable was surging as I accelerated. I replaced the cable, forgot to use Dorman 9-1812 cable lubricant, so I'm going to do that. I think we both may have installed the cable wrong, into the side of the transmission.

I bought a cable, took it to the Hobby Shop and realized they gave me the wrong cable so I eliminated the sensor all together. Mine is still not working anyone know if I have to go change it our for the one for vehicles with speed sensor, I thought cruise just wouldn’t work?
