Default intermittent low-speed miss 89 5.0

Newbie here- hope I have the correct forum.

My buddy has an '89 convertible with a high output 5.0 and he is troubled by an intermittent miss. New plugs, wires, new 10-pin connector from the dealer, (looks like a recall sticker for this) cleaned injectors, so far. I put my scan tool on it (Actron CP9110) and was disappointed to see we could not view data to catch it in the act. Looks like that capability was not available until '90.

Anyway, the rough running always occurs before 2000 rpm and under load. Above 2K it runs smooth and strong. It comes and goes. Sometimes will be OK for days, then acts up.

It has set no codes. The MAF was changed for a known good unit - same problem.

Any ideas?

Can the computer be changed for a '90 so we can scan the data while it is acting up?

Thanks,

Have you tried cleaning everything? Maybe treat the upper intake with Seafoam and run some through the injectors.

The injectors were cleaned with a 3M kit designed specifically for the purpose
