Default installing new fuel pump have weird problem!helppp lol

so i got my tank pulled and everything ok, but i took the fuel pump bracket out nd mine seems to be like riveted together or something? everything i read says it should be bolted together so i can disassemble it.
if im not mistaken bolts should be there?

now my problem is the 255 fuel pump wont fit because the cup on the bottom is to small. has anyone ever seen this type of bracket before and got a walbaro pump to fit, i really dont wana spend more on a new bracket than the fuel pump itself cost

I ran into this problem when I installed a 255 into my 89. I just pryed the side bars out a bit and left the pump hanging by the hose, not installed into the cup. No sock filter, either, which is a bad idea. I never was able to find out why this was the case, but I suspected that the bracket/pump combo was an aftermarket stock replacement.

I just googled a bit and found tons of other people with the issue, as well as tons of people claiming no issue. One person solved it by having a machine shop heat it and stretch the cup out.

Ya I've ben trying to heat it nd open it up. I got it on the verge of fitting jus the side with the bars I can't get to open up enuf to get it in. I wish I had a socket or something almost the size of the pump to jam in there. Anyone got any ideas

for anyone that ever encounters this problem installing there fuel pump this is what i did. after countless hours of trying to heat it up and open it up more i gave up and jus cut it.

had to mess with it a lil bit but after playing with it for awhile it ended up sitting almost perfectly with the hose on
