Exhaust Fumes in Car- Suggestions?
#12
That was the first thing i tried. It's sealed for the most part with caulking as well as the boots and what not.
Also I checked the spare tire compartment and no holes or anything as far as i can see. How would i go about checking for exhaust leaks? Like i said it just passed smog but i wanna be sure that's not it.

Preferably on a lift, but I've done it on jackstands, just be careful. When the car is running have someone cover the exhaust tips with their hand while you feel around the flanges and any other connections. Use care not to touch the hot pipes. Covering the tail pipes with someone elses hands will exaggerate the leak.

So i had a friend help me stuff the tailpipes today and confirmed there aren't any leaks, or if there are they're too small to notice. There was no noise and the idle dipped down a bit when we stuffed em.
So i don't know what the smell is from. Any other suggestions?

theres no other way to explain exhaust fumes in the cabin of your car, unless you were driving behind somebody and had you air recirculation set to allow air from the outside. (not sure what this is called, but one setting re-circulates air from inside the cabin, the other takes air in from the outside)
