Car is 1993 5.0 LX. I did a search on instrument lighting, did not find a situation similar to mine. The instrument lights and the PRNDL light do not come on when the ignition switch is turned on. They all come on when the headlight switch is turned on. The dimmer switch does not have any effect. I am not smart enough to understand the wiring manual to see how the instrument lighting is independent of the headlight switch.

It's not. Instrument lighting and gear selection lighting only come on with parking light engagement.

Think I found the problerm in the electrical manual. There is power to the instrument lighting and PRHDL through the ignition switch. Now I need to find out how to get the switch to check the connections.
