Default Very low oil pressure at idle.

First off I have a 1988 LX 5.0. Rear end is 3.73, alum drive shaft, rebuilt t-5, dual disk clutch, MSD ignition (still TFI), cobra heads and intake.

Well I have a couple issues I'm having with the car.
1. Harmonic balancer wobbles (needs replaced)
2. Leaks oil behind the ending not sure where but ends up burning somewhere.
3. I am exhibiting low oil pressure at idle (1-5 psi), but rises quickly after about 1200-1500 rpms.

Not sure if these are all related but still possible. Just hoping its not a spun bearing or something like that. Its a project car so its not being driven right now. At least not until I fix this oil issue.
Any help would be grateful thanks.

Where is the oil leaking?? make sure the sending unit is broken and leaking then... First thing, not to sound like a jerk but make sure the oil level is full... then put a manual gage on it just to verify you dont vave a sendig unit or gage problem. More than likely you have a pump going out or excessive main bearing wear.

I'll see if I can find out exactly where its leaking from. And I am actually using an aftermarket gauge, I'll also check all the tubing for it as it was already installed.

Once you do those things.. and if you do indeed have low pressure. A short term help is to run straight 30w oil.

btw, how do you like the dual clutch? I'm upgrading my tranny this winter and am looking at the dual clutches.

My car has a centerforce dual friction, it works great.

New symptom - Saw black smoke come out the back of the exhaust, one side is whitish, other is black. Only happens when I rev it a little.

put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it to make sure if still low then you have a choice..drive it tell it goes or pull the oil pan and check your oil pump pick up for starters.
