RPM is limited to 4k, but only at WOT
First off, sorry if this has been answered. Ive searched, but symptom is hard to explain.
A little history: 95 mustang gt 5 speed, 3rd owner, engine ran hard while ive owned it. 155k miles. Rings are out in cylinder 6, eats oil and fouls the plug. Been like that for about 20k miles. only aftermarket is k&n cold air intake and a roush ****er ****(gains 15 hp with the name).
A new symptom that started yesterday it that the rpms are limited to at 4k, but only when at WOT. If I back off a little, it will rev farther no problem. Ive taken it to 5500 plenty of times so I know it should do it. I even tried doing it in neutral. 3/4 throttle will take it to 5k no problem, more throttle will go more. but at wot, it cuts out and falls on its face to 4k, then slowly makes its way down to 3100 and stays there. it sounds like it is cutting out, but not like it does with a bad plug, this is worse. I havent torn anything apart yet for lack of time, but anyone have an idea?

well my alternator crapped out today on my way to work. I work with a guy who used to be a ford tech and said that if the computer doesnt get enough voltage it will go haywire, and since the governer is controlled by the computer it could explain it. Ill let you know what happens tommarow when I replace the alternator.
And about the spout, I forgot to plug it in one time after setting the timing, and it ran odd, but not like this.

Once your alt is replaced and the problem still exist ima go with TPS also it wont usually trip a code and can cause this and other rpm related problems and be over looked and cost you extra money, check the voltage with it held at wot!
