I'm about to convert my 87 lx convertible to 5 lugs and wanted to make sure the way I plan to go will be fully compatible. For the rear I have a complete rear end out of a 94 cobra including disk breaks and rotors. For the front I figured I would just buy rotors and calibers for a 94 mustang so they match. Now my question is what year mustang 5 lug 17x8 wheels will work without problems. Was looking at a set of 2003 mach 1 Magnum 500s. thanks in advanced.

Pretty much any. I'm running 17x9 on mine. You just have to watch your front fender lip since they have smaller openings than 91+.

you can`t just buy 95 rotors you have to change the spindles if thats done then any 17 inch mustang rim will fit i had those rims on mine at one point only rub at full turn and my cars k-member is a little narrower than yours

you will need spindles from a 95 or 94. (best option) then you will have to buy PBR calipers for the front. Also since you are doing disc brakes on the rear you will need a larger brake booster.

you can just buy lincoln mark 7 rotors to convert the fronts to 5 lug you will also need wheel bearings and seals but it might limit your wheel choices
