Exclamation fuel/starting/battery problems.

ok, im having a really hard time.
1. my car cranks hard as hell. it doesnt wanna crank normally hardly ever. when it does crank normally, it wont start to save its life. when it cranks hard it usually starts. so im advised bad starter or charging system.

2. my fuel pressure is running between 39-42 psi. which is normal for an efi car. but i notice the pressure drops as it cranks, and as soon as i turn off the key it drops off. it used toi hold pressure for a while. so i was advised a bad fuel pump.

3. my car has a new battery, an optima red top. 1000 cranking amp. and wth it fully charged it wont crank the stupid mustang. it cranks about a half crank and then it does nothing. you let off the key and hit it again same thing. but yet you put that same battery in a different car, it starts just fine. pulling out my hair.

answers for advisory:

1, put new starter on, does same thing. cranks rough and starts, cranks normally and doesnt. whats wrong?

2. put new fuel pump in, a walbro 190, and now it doesnt build up fuel pressure. (have mechanical gauge). ok so i checked my connectors. had them backwards. so i switched them, still not enough pressure. i even put gas in it. still not enough. it gets to about 20 maybe 30 if im lucky and nothing more. so i put a stock one back in it out of a perfectly running gt car, and the same thing is occuring.

could i have a bad ecm or fpr? im about all tapped out. this car ran fine up until a certain point and idk what has happened. can someone please give me some insight? ill answer any questions you have so that i can get any opinions what so ever. PLEASE!!!!!! this car has too much centimental value to get rid of.

don't get overwhelmed with these small issues. it requires a clear mind to diagnose it. when you changed your starter did you check your flywheel to see if it had any chipped teeth? have you checked your starter solenoid? check to see if your battery (+) cable isn't too long that it could get heat soaked and not allow your engine to turn over at times. just some thoughts.

Bad ground(s) is causing the starting drag, probably the culprit for the hard start issue as well.

FP, you shouldn't have ****ed with, it was fine. You only needed to replace the rubber cap on the return line(in tank), this is what keeps pressure. Pressure should be 32 idle, 39 WOT.

I had a bad positive wire that was causing my not to start. Sometimes the wires look good on the outside. Corrosion on the inside is the problem.
