can anyone tell me what transmissions will work with a 302? and how can u tell if u have a stall converter? i took out my transmission and guy told me it has a stall converter. how can u tell?

Its pretty simple really . ( if the trans was still in the car) .. But out of the car to look at it you need to get some numbers off it. They look the same. If it were in the car you can put the car in drive and hold the brakes , then run the rpms up to the point where you feel the torqe converter really grab. The basic operation of a torq converter and a stall convertor are pretty much the same except that a stall converter has a modified stator and it takes more rpms for it to lock up allowing for a higher rpm launch . This gives you an edge at the track because you can hold the brakes while you run the enginge up to just below the specified rating of the stall converter . So if you have a 3000 rpm stall converter it wont fully engage untill the engine rpms hit 3000 .

well now I'm wondering if it was in the stall converter bad not the transmission because when I would drive I would have first and second what is soon as third with kick in it would act like nothing was there you could read RP M's as high as you wanted and nothing

That sounds like a bad AOD trans. They usually burn out like that when the TV cable isn't hooked up to the throttle for a bit and it never builds any line pressure.

Well I put a c4 transmission in it and now shifter arm on Trans is hitting exhaust Idk what to do
